EnerGuide for Houses was created by the Government of Canada to foster energy efficiency, reduce green house gas emissions and to provide homeowners with reliable advice so they can make informed choices when renovating or retrofitting their homes in Ontario and other provinces

The black and white EnerGuide label on an appliance is well known to most Canadians. Recent breakthroughs in technology and housing-science now mean that even whole houses can now be assigned an EnerGuide rating between 0 and 100. This information comes printed on the familiar black and white label.

But the EnerGuide for Houses program is much more than a rating. It is about having an energy expert right there in your home. It is about using the latest housing-science not myths or assumptions about ways to improve your home. It is about coming up with a plan to save you money through energy efficiency. It is about independent advice without a sales pitch.

Home Performance Energy Advisors are the energy experts in your community. Each advisor is trained to understand the house as a system, with particular attention given to the heating and cooling system and building structure
